This antique Chinese figural forbidden stitch embroidery sleeve band cuff robe trim pair dates from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is made of a beige color silk fabric with colorful forbidden stitch Peking knot, raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery and gold thread couching work outlines. There is a fanciful figural scenic design of a Chinese figural women in the garden with water, boats, flowers, vases, trees, butterflies and bats. This pair of embroidered silk sleeve band cuffs would have been used on a robe for added decoration and symbolism. It has has been professionally matted with a butterfly damask weave silk ribbon trim edging and newer brocade fabric border matting with a golden brown silk backing suitable and ready for framing. There is a "Peking China" paper label on the back of one. The trim measures 23 1/2 inches long, 8 1/2 inches wide and is in excellent condition. This is truly a beautiful one of a kind piece of antique Chinese textile embroidery art!
