    Early 20th century Kwakiutl spoon with carved handle.  Beautiful lines, carved with traditional designs. Great patina!

    HISTORICAL NOTES -
    Kwakwaka'wakw, Kwakuitl carvings and art are one of the most distinctive forms of Northwest Coast American Indian art. Masks, totems, tools and bowls are usually created by artists who have inherited the rights to make them. Many are used during Potlatch ceremonies that celebrate the community,  the culture and honor their ancestors.
