    Description

Before I get into the description of this item, I have to say that I am not a collector nor am I an expert on knives or militaria. With that being said, I will tell you what I know of this knife and if you know more about it than I do or have any questions, please email me. This appears to be (based on my research & what I've been told) a German-made WWI spear point combat knife or
    fighting
dagger. It most likely was originally a bayonet on the end of a rifle. At some point it's been affixed to the wooden handle it has now. The total length including the wood handle is approximately 10.25". The blade itself measures approximately 5.5" and is made of steel. One side of the blade is stamped DEMAG DUISBURG and the other side is stamped: GESETZLICH GESCHUTZT. The handle could possibly be from that era or sometime after. It is made of wood with an "F" carved on one side and on the other side are 3 straight diagonal lines & 1 slightly curved line. The guard I've been told is original and is about 2.5" long. It is flared at one end and has a hole about the diameter of a pencil's eraser. Overall I would say that this knife is in good to very good condition for it's age or at least better than average, but it does show signs of obvious use. It comes with a leather sheath which is not likely original but just a vintage one made of leather. The sheath itself is in decent condition but the snap has broken away from the strap at the top. Please view pics closely and email me with any questions or if you have any information you'd like to share with me about this item. Thanks for looking.
