Description
Up for your consideration is a lot of 2 1976 Bicentennial Illinois license plates. They have two different numbers that are two digits apart.137 119 & 137121.
These come from a different time in Illinois history. It was not a state people were too embarrassed to claim they hailed from and it was the year their first Governor went to prison (Otto Kerner, maybe he made this plate??…although the one serving as governor in 1976 would end up going to the stripey hole, he would not be convicted until 1987. That’s about all you need to know as to why Illinois residents aren’t as proud of their state as the average Texan).
The envelopes are the ones that the person’s 1977 plates came in and one of them has a piece of cray paper showing pictures of the “new” signs that were coming to Illinois in the next 2 years. They include descriptions of what they would mean which helps Illinois citizens lose faith in Illinois drivers from 45 years ago. (Who couldn’t figure a no U u-turn sign…sigh)
These plates show signs of wear typical for a piece of metal that would be outside in the four seasons of their state but overall they’re in decent shape. Since these are not new old stock, look over the photos and keep condition issues in mind when bidding.
